Action Against Hunger’s US remuneration package includes:

Annual Salary 
Your gross (untaxed) annual salary will reflect your post’s role within the organization. The salary ranges for the US office ensure that all positions with a similar scope of responsibility are paid comparably. The starting salary for each position in the US office is reviewed periodically against and adjusted to remain competitive with other non-profit organizations.

Health Insurance
From your very first day of employment, we provide access to a comprehensive in-network medical plan, which includes a prescription drug plan. Coverage is available for you and eligible dependents. Action Against Hunger contributes at least 80% of the monthly premium and funds 100% of the annual deductible. No co-pay is required for visits to your doctor.

Dental Insurance  
Our dental insurance plan provides comprehensive coverage for preventive and major dental procedures. From your first day, you will be eligible for this coverage for yourself and eligible dependents.  Action Against Hunger covers 100% of the premiums.

Vision Insurance  
Our vision insurance covers general vision prescription care, glasses, and lenses every calendar year. You will be automatically eligible for this coverage for yourself and your dependents. Action Against Hunger covers 100% of the premium.

Commuter Savings Program  
You can choose to participate in the TransitChek commuter saver program which will enable you to pay your commuting costs on a pre-tax basis.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)  
You will be able to establish reimbursement accounts, also called Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), to pay for out-of-pocket health care and dependent care costs.

403(b) Retirement Plan  
You will be able to contribute to your retirement savings through our tax deferred investment 403(b) retirement plan. Regular full-time and eligible part-time employees may contribute a percentage of their annual base salary or a set dollar amount. Action Against Hunger will vest any contributions after 3 years of service.

Short and Long-Term Disability Insurance  
Action Against Hunger provides Short Term Disability Insurance to guard against loss of income due to a disabling illness or injury. We also provide Long Term Disability Insurance to guard against complete loss of income due to lengthy periods of disabling illness or injury and cover 100% of the premium.

Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Plan  
Action Against Hunger provides basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment insurance and covers 100% of the premium.

Regular Performance Appraisals 
Action Against Hunger uses performance appraisals to evaluate your hard work. You will receive regular feedback from your supervisor and work alongside our team to reach your professional goals. There will be plenty of opportunities to discuss your career expectations and request support.

Training Opportunities 
Action Against Hunger is committed to helping all employees develop their professional skills. to the extent that this is possible given resource constraints and program requirements. You will be met with various learning opportunities, and our dedicated team will encourage you to continue growing and meeting your goals. 

Field Visits 
Some US positions require frequent travel to visit our international programs, but many others do not. Nevertheless, whenever opportunities occur to provide US staff with a field experience, these are encouraged and Action Against Hunger covers all associated costs.

Career Opportunities within the Action Against Hunger Network 
All open field positions will be shared with you at least once a month. You and your HR Officer will frequently work together to ensure that you are reaching your career goals, as well as to help you identify future assignments.

Relocation Support 
US-based positions require that candidates are legally authorized to live and work in the United States. However, if you are offered employment and this is not the case, Action Against Hunger will help facilitate your visa application and cover all associated legal and filing fees for you and your family. If you are relocating, you may be eligible for a relocation allowance which will ease your transition to living and working in New York or Washington, D.C.

Vacation Days 
If you are a full-time employee, depending on your position and length of employment, you will accrue up to 21 vacation days (working days) per year.

★ First and Second year of service = 15 vacation days
★ Third and Fourth year of service = 18 vacation days
★ Fifth year of service = 21 vacation days

If you are a part-time employee, you will also accrue the same vacation credits, but it will be prorated according to your work hours.

Sick Leave Days 

If you are a full-time employee, you will accrue one day of sick leave each month, up to a maximum of 12 sick leave days per year. Eligible part-time employees also accrue sick leave, prorated to their official work schedules. You will be able to take up to five sick leave days per year to care for sick family members.

Summer Fridays 

Depending on your start date, you may be eligible for up to four paid Summer Fridays off per calendar year, which can be taken between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

National Public Holidays 

Action Against Hunger observes 11 national holidays per year. The afternoon preceding any of the 11 public holidays is usually a half-day office holiday, with the office officially closing at 1:00 p.m.

Personal Days 

You will accrue one Personal Day for every four months that you work with Action Against Hunger. These can be taken at any time during the calendar year in which they are accrued.  If you are a part-time employee, you will also accrue Personal Days, but they will be prorated according to your work hours.

Other Leaves 

During your employment you may also be entitled to family and medical leave, as well as parental leave and bereavement leave.
