Albert Siminyu – Regional Director, Horn and Eastern Africa

Albert Siminyu serves as Action Against Hunger’s Regional Director for the Horn and Eastern Africa in Nairobi, Kenya. As a leader committed to alleviating food insecurity and delivering lifesaving and life-changing programs, Mr. Siminyu is crucial in furthering Action Against Hunger’s mission. With over two decades of professional experience in humanitarian work, development, and leadership, Siminyu plays a fundamental role in our organization.

Passionate about supporting and developing leaders, Mr. Siminyu is committed to strengthening the capacity of our staff within the country and regional offices. He works closely with community-based organizations to enhance their long-term sustainability and continues to propel the organization to achieve its mission to end hunger for everyone, for good.

Prior to this role, Mr. Siminyu served as Action Against Hunger’s Country Director in Uganda. Under his leadership, the country program doubled its budget and became a partner of choice for donors and civil society organizations. Our Uganda country program remains trustworthy, effective, and consistently successful in the fight against malnutrition.

Before joining Action Against Hunger, Mr. Siminyu spent 17 years with World Vision International, where he led on a program-wide, country-wide, regional, and global scale. During his time with World Vision, he served as the Global Director for Program Design, Monitoring and Evaluation; the Regional Quality Assurance Director for East Africa; Country Director in Burundi; and several other roles in strategic planning and project management.

Mr. Siminyu earned his Master of Science in Economics from the University of North Texas as well as a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Makerere University in Uganda. He also holds a diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation from the Galilee Management Institute.
